a broken drawer handle - not essential for survival but pretty annoying to look at...
Much better, hadn't seen my face in this mirror for months (read on to see why)!
Yes, they are polka dot flower pots hiding the bottles and tubes that clutter dressing tables, they were a gift from my grandmother who knows I love all things blue, and that is my hairdryer hanging on a little hook on the side of the chest of drawers, another 5 minute job done some months ago.
A couple of things that need doing in the house were really annoying me. There was a couple of significant marks on the stair carpet, the mirror in my bedroom was sitting on the chest of drawers instead of on the wall since the wire at the back had broken, a handle needed to be screwed back on that same chest of drawers and the utility room door hinge is squeaking long and loud.
These had all needed doing for so long they had gained a status beyond their size in my mind and I had convinced myself I needed an entire "child free day" to tackle them but, on Tuesday afternoon a rare and wonderful thing happened, my children both took a long nap at the same time - this is great luck, like toast landing buttered side up but even less likely. I could have put my feet up and caught up with the Sunday papers but I derived much more peace from removing these nuisances from the back of my mind. So, strong picture string, a philips screwdriver, a solution of carpet cleaner, scrubbing brush and a mere 40 minutes later all my jobs were complete. Happy days! Oh, the hinge on the utility room door is not sorted but a can of WD40 is on the shopping list.
Why didn't I "just do it" weeks ago?!?!?
